What the hell!?!??!!!

Okay, so first, I read that some parent in Ontario is trying to get "To Kill A Mockingbird" taken off the school approved reading list. WTF?
Secondly, while having a discussion with a girl I used to babysit, and we had this conversation...
Girl says:
lucky, im working on it right now and its so annoying
and did you remember reading the bridge over the river kwai in ELA
brynne says:
yeah
Girl says:
its the stupidest book ever
brynne says:
why do you say that?
Girl says:
cause its about ppl fighting and blowing up a bridge

This kid also told me that she'd heard that "To Kill A Mockingbird" was "lame" and that she didn't really care for "In The Heat of The Night"

WHAT THE HELL!!!

What has happened to the next generation!

I mean, I know I'm only 22, and that a 15.5 year old isn't really the 'next generation' but I'm trying to make a point!

This same girl told me last year that she didn't like Romeo and Juliet because she's not into "that old kind of stuff"

I'm seriously about to freaking BLOW!

Twilight has replaced In The Heat Of The Night as a 'good' book and that makes me want to cry.

I think I'm going to go get my copy of 1984 and go crazy. I might also go to the library tomorrow and try to calm my agitated reader's soul.
