I am pretty much over the era of the facial piercing. One day these kids will wake up and think "Why the hell did I put a hole in my face?" If I had a dollar for every person I've seen today with a lip, eyebrow or nose piercing, I'd be able to buy all the M.A.C. makeup that I currently have my eye on. And that pair of grey and pink Converse. And a muffin. Or two.
Don't even get me started on the whole surface piercing thing. That will open up a whole other can of worms.
EDIT: Kay, I feel like I should clarify a bit. I do not hate all piercings and everybody with them. I think that some people suit them, and that some people look really good with them. The thing I have the issue with is the fact that it seems to have become the "trendy" thing to do. And a couple years from now, heck, maybe even sooner, they will wonder why they did it. It's like the ridiculous number of girls with a butterfly lower back tattoo (or almost any other lower back tattoo). It was the trend,a fad, and a few years from now, it's very possible that they will regret it. I myself considered piercing my lip, but I ultimately decided not to (for a reason as silly as the application of lipgloss). And as for the surface piercing thing, in my (near OCD) need to research things completely, while I was considering my lip, I basically scoured the internet for info, and read (in many places) that all too often, surface piercings ultimately reject, and scar nastily.
But the biggest thing is that it's a personal choice, and it was totally not meant as an attack on anyone with a piercing. If someone wants to make like the cat man and pierce their cheeks so they can have whiskers, go for it, as long as they aren't doing it because someone decided that it was "cool."

i hope i don't sound like a total bag.
cause i adore you.
but anyway!! love, cassie.
Don't worry Cass, I don't think you sounded baggy....and I wasnt' sure what to say either cuz I've got two in my face so...but totally respect that you don't like it. That's totally cool; I don't like some of them either. I love you also Brynne
No Cass and Al, I totally still love you.
Its just that I just see so many people here at the university seem to have them just because they're the "in" thing right now. They've become the lower back tattoo of 2006. You guys (and I mean this in the most complimentary way imaginable) totally have enough personality to pull them off.
oh, the lower back tattoo...
yeah i dont know, it seems like every person on the planet has their nose pierced, and i just think its getting ridiculous already. even a bunch of guys! girly stud things, eww. i guess its your choice if you want to put metal things in your body, but i know that i will be silly looking enough when i'm old without scars of things in my face/extremities/wherever else.
i also mean this in the most unbaggy way possible. its just not my thing, thats all.
I find it a little bit hilarious that now, 3 years after I wrote this, I have my nose pierced, and have started a love affair with body mods...I guess I was just behind with the times...
