It was so ridiculously cold. My baby toe on my right foot was totally frozen solid. It didn't seem that cold when we left the house, but boy, it was when we got there. Henk and I took turns holding our place in the lineup while the other went into the Maple Sugar Shack to warm up.
I bet you didn't know, but Hot Dr. Pepper is really good. They had it on tap at the Snow Bar. I never would have even considered trying it, but Festival is a time for trying new and weird things.
But, here are some pictures from the show, and some of the ice sculptures, and of Henk and I.
This is the awesome snow arch-thing that you had to walk through to get into the park. Pay no attention to the man in the green jacket, he just happened to walk into the shot.
This one was really, really detailed. It was amazing.
This one was a werewolf climbing the full moon.
Ashley was so good. He played the 3 songs of his that I know really well.
Those 3 being Sleepy Maggie, Bitch, and The Devil In The Kitchen. He played others too. Those are just the only ones I knew. And the funniest/coolest thing of the night was that he smashed his violin at the end of the night. He is so crazy talented on the violin it's not even funny.
Henk and I in front of the sculpture of Pecos Bill riding a tornado. The inside of the tornado was hollowed out. Photographs don't do the sculpture justice.
This one is Henk and I inside the cool tunnel thing. In the upper right corner, you can see an "M". It said MTS. It was kinda funny, and really cool at the same time.

Hee hee hee! I am so glad y'all had a good time. Who was holding the camera? Kind passers-by? (Passer-by's??) Anyhoo, congrats for discovering Hot Dr. Pepper! I had it at the Sno-Pro snowmobile races down south in about 1981. They floated lemon slices in the vat and ladled it into big plastic mugs. Say hi to Henk!
AH FESTIVAL!!!!!
And HENK! :(
I cried looking at the pictures!
